Quick answer

What Dead Pixel Test tells you

Inspect the display manually with solid black, white, red, green, blue, gray or custom colors in an ad-free fullscreen mode.

Observed here
User-controlled solid colors, Fullscreen viewing, Arrow-key and Space navigation.
How to interpret it
Solid colors support manual inspection for a spot that stays dark or otherwise unchanged. The page does not detect pixels automatically or determine warranty eligibility.
Important limit
Results reflect events and values exposed by this browser.
Data handling
Test values are calculated in this browser. Device Test Bench does not store a test result or create a device fingerprint.

Useful next comparison: Inspect the same location on several colors, check whether the mark moves with page content and follow the panel manufacturer warranty guidance.

Understanding the result

What a result means

Solid black, white, red, green and blue backgrounds help reveal consistently dark or lit pixels. Dust, reflections and scaling artifacts can resemble a defect, so a mark should remain at the same physical location across several colors.

Confirm the pattern by repeating user-controlled solid colors. Results reflect events and values exposed by this browser.

How to use this test

  1. Clean the screen gently and lower ambient glare.
  2. Open the fullscreen color test.
  3. Inspect each color from a normal viewing distance.
  4. Exit with the on-screen button or Escape.

What this test checks

  • User-controlled solid colors
  • Fullscreen viewing
  • Arrow-key and Space navigation
  • Always-visible exit control

What this test cannot check

Results reflect events and values exposed by this browser.

This test does not certify hardware or replace professional inspection.

This visual check cannot repair pixels or distinguish every panel defect.

Device Test Bench provides browser-based diagnostic information for reference. It does not replace professional hardware inspection or repair.

Common problems and troubleshooting

Clean only with a manufacturer-approved method, use normal brightness and inspect without magnification first. Repeat in fullscreen and compare a screenshot: a physical defect will not normally appear in the captured image.

  1. Repeat the same observation. Focus the test surface and repeat “User-controlled solid colors” three times under the same conditions.
  2. Change one condition. Compare “Fullscreen viewing” after changing only the relevant port, connection, browser setting or application.
  3. Rule out focus or interception. Close overlays and reserved shortcuts, keep the page visible and confirm that the live indicator changes during the action.
  4. Keep the result within its limit. Results reflect events and values exposed by this browser.

If the same pattern remains across relevant applications and connections, give the manufacturer or a qualified technician the repeatable observations instead of a guessed fault label.

Browser compatibility

Fullscreen is feature-detected and requires a user gesture; Escape or the visible exit control ends it. The browser can display colors but cannot inspect the panel electrically or determine warranty eligibility.

Frequently asked questions

Is this Dead Pixel Test free?

Yes. The test works without an account, download or payment.

Is my test data uploaded?

Test values are calculated in this browser. Device Test Bench does not store a test result or create a device fingerprint.

Does this result prove my hardware is faulty?

No. It shows what the browser can observe. Repeat the test, compare another browser or device, and seek qualified support when the result matters.

Turn this result into a useful comparison

A working indicator or an unexpected event is only a starting point. Choose a plan to compare another application or connection and record what changed.

  • Plan a Suspicious Screen Pixel Check — Compare a suspicious display spot across solid colors and applications, then prepare a cautious manufacturer-support record without pixel-repair claims.
