Maximum observed contacts are counted from simultaneous pointers and compared with navigator.maxTouchPoints. Reserved gestures can keep the observed count below the reported maximum without indicating a failed touch sensor.

Common problems and troubleshooting

Add fingers one at a time inside the surface, keep them stationary briefly and try another orientation. Disable browser zoom gestures only through normal device settings; do not force or press hard on the display.

1. Repeat the same observation. Focus the test surface and repeat “Simultaneous contacts” three times under the same conditions.
2. Change one condition. Compare “Maximum observed contacts” after changing only the relevant port, connection, browser setting or application.
3. Rule out focus or interception. Close overlays and reserved shortcuts, keep the page visible and confirm that the live indicator changes during the action.
4. Keep the result within its limit. Results reflect events and values exposed by this browser.

If the same pattern remains across relevant applications and connections, give the manufacturer or a qualified technician the repeatable observations instead of a guessed fault label.

Multi-pointer delivery is supported on modern touch browsers, but system gestures and browser chrome reserve some combinations. Desktop emulation does not prove real hardware multi-touch capacity.
